Rudert|I had a great uncle who went to Haiti with the Marines in 1916 so I was glad to see a recording of this history that might otherwise be lost. The book provides important contextual information on Dominican politics at the time. It does describe as "bandits" Dominicans who fought the Marines that I'm sure the Dominicans consider to be freed|About the Author||Stephen M. Fuller is assistant professor of English at Middle Georgia College in Cochran. His work has been published in "Southern Quarterly", "Studies in Short Fiction", and "Journal of Popular Culture".
In this book the record of the Marine occupation of the Dominican Republic from 1916-1924 is presented as an example of the active role played by the Marine Corps in the Caribbean region in the first three decades of the 20th Century.
